Pre-Rut action!

Well finally got out for the first time this year in Eastern NC... Took along the rifle and a good buddy... Got a blind set up early on the edge of a CRP field on one of our local game lands. Sat for a good 20 minutes, then the action started. As first light came upon us we spotted a small buck still in velvet at 50 yards. Too small but fun to watch. Tickled the antlers and blew the grunt call... 10 minutes later at 150 yards a shooter eight pointer walks the edge of the CRP browsing and on the move. Still couldn't get a shot off but it was a huge confidence builder that those bucks are starting to move. Going back out tomorrow, same spot, going to set up a little earlier and see if we can get that big eight.....
