Bear Bait!

I was invited to hunt a farm with a buddy of mine last weekend. We set up in a ground blind around 4:00 and waited till last light when finally a nice doe appeared at 65yrds. I let the 30-06 BARK! for the first time this season in Eastern NC. Hit her in the high shoulder and she dropped. To our amazement she got up after a few minutes and bolted nose down into the cut-over. We searched the area where I hit her and found no blood at all. Since it was getting dark we searched for a little bit as far as we could get into that overgrown cut-over. After 20 yards in and no sign we decided to back out and return in the morning when it got light. To our suprise she went down right by were we backed out the night before and we were amazsed to see that the bears beet us to her. Has anyone ever heard of a deer getting up after a high shoulder shot? Let me know.....
